Stadtwerke Sindelfingen selects IQGeo to enable digital transformation

Cambridge, 14th November 2019 – IQGeo (AIM: IQG), a leading provider of geospatial software for the telecoms and utility industries, is supporting Stadtwerke Sindelfingen on its digital transformation journey with the integration of IQGeo’s mobile-first, geospatial software to automate and optimize field data capture across its entire utility network.

IQGeo’s geospatial software platform dramatically reduces the need for manual data collection and integrates with a wide range of IoT sensing devices to provide a real-time view of Stadtwerke Sindelfingen’s electricity, gas, water, district heating and telecommunication networks. With IQGeo’s easy-to-use mobile software, field engineers have the intelligence they need to efficiently complete maintenance and construction activities and can quickly capture as-built information, significantly improving the quality of network data. Easily integrating with multiple data sources used by the utility, including Oracle Spatial, Bentley GIS and QGIS, IQGeo enables office and field users to quickly  access real-time information from one common browser-based interface.

The Stadtwerke Sindelfingen deployment of IQGeo's Capture product will manage the planning of house connections, collect construction as-built, red-lining, and data correction details from staff and contractors in the field and update GIS and engineering systems. Using their mobile devices, technicians can easily record and submit changes in the field with IQGeo’s browser-based interface, and the office team can rapidly review and approve field updates.

Markus Metzger, Manager of IT and Telekommunikation at Stadtwerke Sindelfingen, said: “We are pleased to be working with IQGeo and are already very impressed with the capabilities of its software platform. As an end-to-end web-based and mobile application with a uniform, simple user interface, IQGeo offers us a number of advantages in terms of data collection. Mobile applications can be run both online and offline in the field with high performance and new applications, such as the planned rollout of sensor technologies, intelligent route optimization for waste management and the expansion and monitoring of e-mobility, can easily implemented in IQGeo. We are already evaluating other IQGeo products in connection with smart systems (such as the use of panoramic photos and 3D information) and look forward to introducing the IQGeo platform throughout our organization”.

Christian Wirth, General Manager, Europe and Japan at IQGeo, said: “IQGeo offers something quite unique to network infrastructure providers and it is great to be working with forward thinking utilities such as Stadtwerke Sindelfingen on their journey to digital transformation. The pressure on the sector to maintain a reliable and safe network, while managing rapidly changing environmental and consumer demands, means it is more important than ever that utilities adopt digital processes to reduce costs and streamline processes. We’re looking forward to working closely with the team at Stadtwerke Sindelfingen to help them achieve their ambitious digital network objectives.”
